Shepley is Proud to Celebrate 25 Years of the Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk!
Twenty Five years ago, Bob Murray, a one-man driving force, pulled together all of the non-profit agencies across the Cape who are involved in affordable housing and preventing homelessness. Together they began their 103 mile walk from Provincetown to Falmouth. Their goal? To bring attention to the growing need for affordable housing here on the Cape and Islands. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Bob’s walk. In those 25 years, the walk has raised almost $5 million dollars! That money has made a real difference in the lives of working families, seniors, veterans and children in need.
Shepley understands the importance of making housing available to the people living and working on the Cape and Islands and strongly supports local and legislative efforts to provide housing that is affordable and accessible in our community. We know that year-round affordable housing is a vanishing breed on the Cape and that many working families earning local wages can’t afford decent housing today. Our local workforce is at risk. These families are the hardworking people that make up our local workforce and in order to keep them here with all the great things that Cape Cod has to offer, we need to make sure they can find somewhere to live. We’re happy to stand with the nine local agencies walking as a team and coming together to help find solutions to the housing problem on the Cape and Islands. They are: Champ Homes, Chatham Ecumenical Council for Housing, Community Development Partnership, Falmouth Homeless Prevention Program, Harwich Ecumenical Council for Housing, Homeless not Hopeless, Homeless Prevention Council, Housing Assistance Corporation, and St. Vincent de Paul. The important work of these good folks relies heavily on your donations. Please help them with your support and join us in working hard to help our neighbors in need.
The 25th annual Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk will begin on Monday, July 10th in Provincetown and end on Sunday, July 16th in Falmouth.
