For years the molded door has ruled the roost as far as interior doors go. For many it is brand recognition. It’s what they are accustomed to using and if it isn’t broken, why fix it? For others, it is a financial decision. Typically one of the largest expenses of an interior package is the doors, and molded doors were solution for years. Finding some savings here allows the end user to maybe splurge a bit in other areas. This is quickly proving to be a false track of thinking. Molded door manufactures are imposing increases that have never been seen before (at least not in my tenure at Shepley). Now don’t get me wrong, these are very good doors, Shepley provides thousands and thousands of them a year to jobsites and will continue to for years to come. However, there is a new kid on the block.
Many of you have already heard of Frameport Primed Interior Doors. Frameport first came into the market 5-6 years ago to offer an alternative in the shaker door market and have exploded with success. If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that they wanted that “Cape Cod Cottage” look but didn’t think a true shaker door was financially feasible, well, I’d have a lot of nickels. These doors are offered to complete design styles from “Cottage” to “Farmhouse” and “Contemporary”.
Coming soon, Frameport has decided to come out with a raised panel line. Already offering the 6 panel Raised Panel/Ovolo Sticking (offered in Single and Double Hip Raised), they have made plans to add a two and four panel raised doors, especially for our market due to popular demand. These doors offer an almost identical match to older pine doors we are seeing in a lot of remodeling of older homes from the 60’s and 70’s. I have no doubt that these doors will have just as much success as the shaker doors have had. Stay tuned for availability. Please contact your interior trim rep for more info. As always thank you for your patronage in a very bizarre new world!
