One of the easiest regular items should be to clean and silicone the hinges of your casement windows. This is the most important responsibility you have to ensure the easy opening and closing of your casement windows. Open the window as far as you can. Clean the slide hinges top and bottom with a sponge and cleaner. Then spray on clear silicone lubricant (available at all hardware stores) on the hinge and the operator. This simple yearly cleaning will ensure your windows operate easily for years to come.
While you are at it, remove your screens and wash them with soapy water and a brush as well as the exterior of the window, especially the sills of double hung windows.
