Low Maintenance Time – Andersen Windows

Andersen® Windows and Doors are a great investment for your home. Their wide selection of products, excellent warranty, and the best service department in the industry combine to provide lasting value.

Once you have made the investment, take the time to do some regular “low maintenance” tasks to protect your investment. One of the easiest regular items should be to clean and silicone the hinges of your casement windows. This is the most important responsibility you have to ensure the easy opening and closing of your casement windows. Open the window as far as you can. Clean the slide hinges top and bottom with a sponge and cleaner. Then spray on clear silicone lubricant (available at all hardware stores) on the hinge and the operator. This simple yearly cleaning will ensure your windows operate easily for years to come.

While you are at it, remove your screens and wash them with soapy water and a brush as well as the exterior of the window, especially the sills of double hung windows. By taking these small steps once a year you will protect your investment and you will be very happy with the operation of your windows for years to come. Stop by our showroom to see new products, upgrade your storm door, or just to get a better idea how to operate the windows and doors you use every day.
