The Seaside LeMans – Race for the Cape Cod Community was held on Saturday September 9th at Mashpee Commons. A total of 18 teams competed in the four hour endurance race of Formula One race karts from F1 Boston. The winner of the Elite Division was the team from Shepley and Andersen!
Although the competition was often spirited, all teams agree that the true winners of this race are the beneficiary organizations and the Cape Cod community overall. Donations were sent to the Cape Cod Foundation, which in turn distributes the funds to this year’s beneficiaries: Cape Cod and Islands Major Crisis Relief Fund, Cape Cod Healthcare, Lower Cape Outreach Council, Mass Audubon Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary and Special Olympics Massachusetts. Between kart sponsorships and matching contributions, the five beneficiaries shared in $600,000, bringing the seventeen year total to over $6 million, with all funds directly benefiting the Cape Cod community. Unique among fundraisers, 100% of sponsorship dollars go directly to the chosen beneficiaries since The Davenport Companies cover all event-related costs.
Plans are already underway for the 18th Annual Seaside Le Mans, scheduled for Saturday September 8, 2018. For more information on the race and sponsorship opportunities, please contact DeWitt Davenport or Kelsey Ellis at 508-398-2293 or visit www.seasidelemans.org.
