I am happy to announce that Shepley now offers a great sliding glass wall system! Andersen Corporation acquired Weiland sliding doors and windows on September 30, 2013. Weiland is an Oceanside, California company specializing in performance grade doors for almost 30 years. They ship all over the United States and Europe. Weiland offers virtually limitless options with their systems, including: the patented lift and slide doors; folding doors; swinging doors; pivot doors; barn doors; and lift and slide windows.
Weiland’s moto is “Redefine Boundaries” and that’s exactly what they do with products that fill huge openings, offer seamless transitions and outstanding performance. Shepley will work with architects and builders to create a custom solution for projects that connect the indoors with the outdoors.
Size: Weiland specializes in the construction of doors for huge openings, up to 16’ tall and 60’ wide. Many designs call for the use of larger panel sizes, with more glass area per panel, to create a larger opening and reduce the number of stiles that block the view.
Configuration: Weiland offers countless door configurations including pocketing, corner, curved, folding and pivoting doors that meet the unique design of your project.
Performance: Weiland doors are tested and rated for air, water, and structural performance (PG ratings), with panels that slide on a flush patented track extending only 3/16” above the finished floors. They are also available as impact rated doors. Weiland’s patented track design make it realistic to have large glass doors even in the harshest climates.
Liftslides: Weiland offers a choice of materials, including: all aluminum (with Kynar 500® as its standard exterior finish); exterior-aluminum/interior-wood; and exterior-wood/interior-wood. Rails have a 3 3/16” thick profile. Liftslides can be built in countless configurations, offering unique and custom architectural possibilities. Doors can be built straight, curved, or in a corner, and panels can slide against a jamb, disappear into a wall pocket, or slide along an inside or outside wall.
Think Custom: Chose from many available glass types – along with impact glass. Match any color exterior with high quality aluminum 2605 finish. Select your interior wood species. Screens are available for the Liftslide door units in wood and aluminum.
Hardware: – Weiland’s custom European hardware lifts the door panel by engaging the wheels and allowing it to roll smoothly along the flush track. Because there is no friction, its easy to move panels weighing up to 880 lbs. Multi-point locking systems and finger and edge pulls are of the highest quality.
Weiland’s superior flush track design projects only 3/16” above the finished floor. The tracks are made of anodized aluminum, with a drain system, giving it a PG 50 performance rating. The flush track on multi-panel units is staggered, avoiding the railroad track look of most other door systems. For easier installation, a built-in marker on the track assists in accurately installing the finish floor at only 3/16” below the top of the track. The transverse drain feature is standard with the full drain track, accommodating variations in flooring material to enhance the door systems weather resistance.
Details: Weiland products are custom made to the specifications of each project . It is important that all documents are reviewed by all appropriate parties (homeowners, contractor, Shepley sales rep and installer). Shop drawings are especially critical as your doors and windows will be built to these dimensions. Once color samples and shop drawings are approved, production lead time is 10 weeks for all aluminum, aluminum/wood, or all wood and 12-14 weeks for curved and certain custom products or configurations.
We look forward to working with you to create your custom Weiland opening.
